My teaching philosophy

Discover the core principles that guide my approach to education and how I strive to create a dynamic and respectful learning environment for all students.

Cultivating critical thinkers and responsible citizens

I believe the future of society hinges on the younger generation developing critical thinking skills and learning how to become active members of their communities. As a social studies educator, I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel respected, challenged, and engaged in meaningful learning. My goal is to empower them to grow into informed and responsible citizens.

Empowering future leaders

Students learn best when they are actively engaged in lessons and activities that help them grow into thoughtful and responsible young adults. I foster a classroom culture where they are treated with respect and dignity, and where individual differences—including culture, background, and learning abilities—are recognized, celebrated, and supported.

Inspiring growth and accomplishment

My students are capable of anything they set their minds to. I want them to believe in themselves as much as I believe in them. I look forward to hearing about all of their accomplishments, whether in their academic careers or in life, knowing that a typical class is a group of students inspiring each other to become young adults through active learning and conversation.

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."
